Kenyatta has lived in poverty all her life. She originally is from Kansas, and saw her life going nowhere. She has found herself in terrible relationships, facing abuse both physically and emotionally. She became pregnant and unfortunately lost her daughter. She eventually moves in with her mother, however, is stalked by the father of her daughter. In an effort to mend things, she returns to her partner and although things were going well for a few years, the same violence would emerge. She had given birth to two boys and was unsure of her next move. She knew she had to leave but didn’t have any other support. She contacted a friend in California and moved her children to bring them to a safe place. Her life here has been very tough, as she arrived only to the surprise of a very challenging life. She began living in shelters and was finally placed at Wallis House.
