Roilanda grew up in East LA. She grew up in a very unstable home, as her mom was very mentally and physically abusive. She admits she carries much resentment towards her om for all the pain inflicted. She even admitted to becoming much like her, but didn’t want this lifestyle for her kids. She moved to a small apartment in Inglewood. Unfortunately, her apartment was broken into and her savings were taken. She would save her money in a drawer. She felt helpless, as her job was not paying her very well and this money would have been used for rent and groceries. Shortly after she was evicted with all of her children. She lost her job shortly after. She felt she had no choice but to seek refuge in shelters. She found the Wallis house and through the help of staff she was able to apply to different places for work. Now she is working and applying to any available low-income housing. She hopes that within time, and saving her money she can afford a small place for her and her kids.
