The resident was in a domestic violence relationship for a few years. She experienced both verbal and physical abuse. Her daughter unfortunately lived through many nights of terror o seeing her father so angry. Mom feared for her life and feared her daughter would witness the violence her father would put her through. Finally, mom decided it was enough. She waited until her boyfriend went to work, took a few of her belongings, and left with her daughter. She began living with a close relative, however, was given a short time. Luckily, she had been referred to Wallis House and was able to be placed here. Now being at Wallis, she feels safe and her daughter is one of the happiest little girls in the shelter. Moms only concern is to find housing and be the best mother to her daughter. She hopes nothing that has happened to her daughter has permanently scarred her. Her daughter is doing well in school and is very kind and happy.
