The Austin family is made up of two individuals. We have Ms. Austin (25 years old) who is the aunt of her niece (15 years old). The family was referred to Aviva’s Relative Support Services where Ms. Austin’s niece has received clothing, rental assistance, and tutoring assistance this past year due to the many barriers that came with caring for her as unexpectedly.
The family is currently experiencing financial hardship and emotional stress on both individuals. The niece has been targeted by student in the school which is affecting not only her mental but physical heath as well. Ms. Austin is in the process of moving apartments in order put her niece in a safer environment free from bullying. The family depends on Ms. Austin’s income as she is the only adult in the household.
Since starting services at Aviva, Ms. Austin’s niece has demonstrated an improvement in her studies with the help of tutoring as well as gratitude for the rent assistance we have provided to assist with moving to their new apartment.
She enjoys playing sports, drawing, and playing video games during her free time.
