Harry Family of 3

The Hart family is composed of a single father (64) who is raising two daughters (12) and (13) alone. They currently reside in a two-bedroom apartment through the salvation army residential program. The father was left by the children’s mother while they were homeless for almost two years while struggling with his prostate cancer. The father has cancer treatment twice a week and recently had surgery. Father struggles to pay bills and keep his daughters fed and takes the bus as transportation to the doctor and his daughters to therapy. The Hart family came to Aviva in September of 2023 due to father not being able to manage his daughter’s emotional outburst by his daughters who both struggle with grief, sadness, and anger daily due to father illness and abandonment by their mother when they were little girls. Both girls struggle with building relationships at school with other peers and failing academically with most subjects. Both girls often go without getting their hair done (braids) for months due to the cost that father can’t always afford to have done that contributes to the girl’s self-esteem and not having a female presence in the home has denied them limited ability to achieved high self-esteem. This family would benefit from some home essentials, clothing, hair products, and food.
