This family unfortunately experienced domestic violence living at home. Mom had no choice but to leave home in seek of help. Her kids were growing up in fear and she was convinced to make that change. She arrived to Wallis House with very little to her name. She left most of her things behind and was starting all over. Her kids were very scared and kept to themselves. They did not feel safe being around anyone at Wallis House. With time, that has changed but they are very guarded, as they are doubtful who they can trust.
