L.P is 10 years old. Her and her family (mother and father) recently immigrated from Peru about 5 months ago. L.P began services with Aviva this September because she is having a difficult time adjusting and transitioning into the United States. L.P voices that moving to a new country, not knowing the language, the community, and not having friends has taken a toll on her mental health. Her family immigrated to the United States in hopes to find better employment, a better life, and save money for their expenses back in Peru. Although they did find employment, they do not get to spend as much time with L.P as they once used to. This has affected their relationship. Currently, they are residing in a small apartment until they can afford to find a more suitable place. The family does not have any relatives here, which has made it even more difficult for L.P to find support. Back in Peru, the client was in a dance group, participated in many social events, and enjoyed the arts (painting, drawing, and theatre). The family would benefit greatly from basic home essentials, clothes, and art supplies because when they moved they left mostly everything behind.
