The Simmons family is composed of two individuals: 18-year-old client and 78-year-old great aunt, Ms. Simmons. The Simmons family was referred to Aviva’s Relative Support Services (RSS) program in October 2023, where Ms. Simmons is receiving clothing, mentoring, and mental health services to assist her with her nephew’s necessities and his mental health challenges.
The Simmons family is currently experiencing economic hardship. Ms. Simmons is retired and lives on a fixed income. Additionally, her great nephew, who depends on her income, recently turned 18 years old. As a result, Ms. Simmons was informed that she will no longer receive KinGAP payments to assist her with her great nephew’s expenses.
Since starting services at Aviva, the family has demonstrated exceptional optimism in spite of their economic challenges, along with gratitude for the services they have received thus far. Her nephew enjoys playing video games in his free time.
